and Innovation
The Manufacturing Sector Partnership, a regional,
industry-led collaboration of manufacturing leaders,
is setting a strong foundation for what promises
to be a powerful force in shaping the future of
manufacturing in our region. Launched in 2025, this
initiative brings together business leaders and public
partners to tackle common workforce challenges and
strengthen the industry’s overall competitiveness.
At the heart of the 昀椀rst meeting was a focused
discussion on current challenges and future priorities.
Industry partners identi昀椀ed 昀椀ve core issues a昀昀ecting
their operations and outlined key strategies, skills,
and programs needed to address them. Here’s what
topped the agenda:
1. Workforce Development & Hiring
Recruiting and retaining skilled talent emerged as
the most pressing concern. Companies are actively
seeking candidates in roles spanning engineering,
supply chain, maintenance, 昀椀nance and planning,
particularly from within Dallas County. Beyond hiring,
there’s an urgent need for:
• Rapid onboarding and training in technical skills.
• Upskilling existing employees in areas like
process improvement and root cause analysis.
• Developing capabilities in renewable energy and
battery management systems (BMS).
2. Technical & Specialized Skills
As manufacturing becomes more technologically
advanced, the demand for specialized skills is
growing. Employers are prioritizing:
• Advanced troubleshooting and innovation
techniques.
• Electromechanical maintenance expertise,
including PLC programming.
